After taking a break from sign making to focus on his ADA accessibility consulting business, Mike returned to his roots in 2012, reopening The Graphic Garage. Starting with a modest 1,200-square-foot workspace, the business has since flourished, expanding to more than 3,600 square feet. The company has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality signage tailored to promote clients’ businesses, alongside providing outstanding, personalized customer service.

As a traditional business owner, Mike takes great pride in standing behind his work. The Graphic Garage continues to grow under his leadership, blending old-school craftsmanship with modern innovation to serve their clients with excellence. Visitors are always welcomed warmly at the workshop, reflecting Mike’s commitment to his community and his craft.

MEET MIKE

At the age of 25, Mike Chenail’s life took a dramatic turn when a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed and reliant on a wheelchair for mobility. Despite this life-altering event, he drew upon remarkable resilience and perseverance to push forward. Over the years, he amassed more than 36 years of experience in sign making, graphic design, and computer design—expertise that sets him apart from many small sign companies.

Mike’s journey as a sign maker began in the early eighties when he was encouraged by a master sign painter to explore hand lettering at a young age. Sign making, a highly specialized craft, requires expertise across various trades, and in those days, experienced professionals guarded their trade secrets closely, sharing them only with the most driven or talented newcomers. Mike’s path was made even more challenging by his being left-handed, as the traditional alphabet was designed for right-handed artisans. However, these hurdles only fueled his determination.
